Annual Events at North Beach RSL Sub-Branch
At North Beach RSL Sub-Branch, we honour our traditions and the sacrifices of our veterans through a series of significant annual events. These events are the cornerstone of our community, bringing us together to remember, celebrate, and support our veterans and their families. Here are some of the key annual events we proudly host:
ANZAC Day:
Every year on April 25th, we commemorate ANZAC Day with a dawn service, march, and community breakfast. This day is dedicated to remembering the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who served and sacrificed in various conflicts. Join us as we honor their bravery and reflect on the importance of their contributions.
Following the dawn service, we hold a Gun Fire Breakfast at the North Beach Bowling Club. This traditional breakfast event provides an opportunity for the community to come together, share stories, and honor the spirit of ANZAC Day in a convivial setting.
In conjunction with our ANZAC Day commemorations, we also conduct an appeal to raise funds for veterans. Your generous donations help us provide essential support and services to those who have served our country. Participation in this appeal is a meaningful way to give back to our veteran community and ensure they receive the assistance they need.

Remembrance Day:
On November 11th, we observe Remembrance Day with a solemn ceremony to honor those who have served and fallen in military conflicts. At 11:00 AM, we pause for a moment of silence, reflecting on the sacrifices made by our service members. This day is a poignant reminder of the cost of war and the enduring need for peace.
As part of our Remembrance Day commemorations, we conduct the Poppy Day Appeal to raise funds for veterans. The iconic red poppy symbolizes the remembrance of those who have given their lives in service to our country. Contributions to the Poppy Day Appeal help us provide essential support and services to veterans and their families. Your generosity ensures that the legacy of our veterans is honored and their needs are met.

Each year, we hold a memorial event to remember the prisoners of war who endured the Sandakan Death Marches during World War II. This solemn tribute takes place at the Sandakan Memorial in Kings Park, where we gather to honor the suffering and enduring spirit of those who survived.
We are proud to support Carine Senior High School, the dedicated caretakers of this memorial. Their commitment to preserving the memory of these brave souls is deeply appreciated, and we work closely with them to ensure the memorial remains a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made.
