Establishment of the Institute of Veterans’ Advocates

Passage of New Veterans’ Legislation

The Veterans’ Entitlements, Treatment and Support (Simplification and Harmonisation) Act 2024 was passed on 13 February 2025. This legislation aims to simplify and harmonize various aspects of veterans’ entitlements and support services, ensuring more straightforward access to benefits.


Support for Veterans Affected by North Queensland Floods

Veteran Card holders in flood-affected areas of Far North Queensland can continue to access essential medicines from approved pharmacists, even without a prescription, ensuring uninterrupted medical support during this challenging time.


Extended Access to the Veterans’ Review Board

Recent legislative changes through the Veterans’ Entitlements, Treatment and Support (Simplification and Harmonisation) Act 2025 have broadened access to the Veterans’ Review Board. This extension ensures that more veterans can seek external merits review for claim decisions, promoting fairness and transparency in the evaluation process.


Funding for First World War Commemorations

Nine community groups, ex-service organizations, and individuals have been awarded a combined total of $106,978.90 to support 182 commemorative projects honoring First World War veterans. These projects aim to preserve the legacy and memory of those who served during this pivotal period in history.


January 2025 Claims Processing Data

DVA continues its efforts to expedite the processing of outstanding claims. The latest data from January 2025 indicates progress in delivering timely assistance to veterans and their families.


$30 Million in Grants for Veteran Housing

Thirteen organizations have been awarded grants totaling $30 million under the Veterans’ Acute Housing Program. This funding targets veteran housing and homelessness, aiming to provide secure accommodation and support services to those in need.


Participation in DVA Client Satisfaction Survey

DVA invites veterans and their families to participate in the annual Client Benefits Client Satisfaction Survey. Feedback from this survey is crucial in enhancing the quality and efficiency of services provided to the veteran community.
