Also receiving a much deserved award was well respected member Bill Fielding, WW2 veteran aged a young 96. Bill served on early Radar Stations in New Guinea. Vince Connelly MP, Federal Member for Stirling and Member of our Sub Branch, presented Bill with an Australia Remembers 1939 – 1945 Medallion on behalf of the Federal Government and a Grateful Nation.

Legacy Camp Busselton

Roger Hardwicke is organising the Legacy Camp Busselton Maintenance Tour of Duty for the period 2nd to 6th November.  A very worthwhile cause undertaken by the Sub-Branch.

Peer Health

The First Aid Course and requalification is to be held at Hillarys Yacht Club on 9 September.

Flags

Flags at our Memorial were flown on the 15th, being the 75th anniversary of VP Day, and on 18th for the anniversary of Long Tan.

Our Sub-Branch Website

Our Website is in the process of being renovated so that it better addresses the changing needs of our members and our community.  Helen Burgess, Brian Jennings, Peter Edwards and Assistant Secretary Wayne Koch have been working on this to arrive at the best design for our Sub-Branch.

Events

Walking and Kayaking members meet every Wednesday and Friday.  Walkers from 08:00 to 08:45 at the southern Hillarys Marina car park.   Kayakers meet at the Hillarys Yacht Club car park where our Kayaks are parked.  Bike Riders meet on Friday’s for a ride north on the bike path.  Coffee follows, every Wednesday and Friday, from about 09:15.  All members are welcome, so look for our RS L North Beach sign.

Our Annual Christmas Lunch will be held on 26 November from 11:30 at the Hillarys Yacht Club.  Cost will be $60 per person and members are asked to organise tables of 10.  Payment is requested as from our September monthly meeting.  Organiser Peter Edwards will provide regular updates at our Meetings.

Tour of Duty organiser Paul McGuinness advised that planning is well underway for the Darwin Tour of Duty, being planned for the 4th to 12th June 2021.

Welfare

If you are aware of any of our members who are not well, may need support or assistance, please contact our Welfare Officer Greg Gough on 0417 911 173.

If you are aware of the death of a member,  advise our Secretary Trevor McEntyre on 0447 730 911 as there are guidelines laid down to ensure that the DVA, Legacy, Welfare Officers and RSL State Branch are informed, newspaper tributes are inserted, and funeral details promulgated.

Our Next Meeting

Our next meeting is Monday 14 September from 16:00, followed by a meal.  Cost is $10.00, which includes two rounds of drinks, plus $5.00 for those who choose to enjoy a meal.
