Once again it has been another amazing year for the North Beach RSL Sub-Branch.  At the State Conference on 10th June, North Beach Sub-Branch won the Newdegate Cup for all round performance of Metropolitan Sub-Branches.  We were also successful in being awarded the Mary Cornell Trophy for the most funds raised from the Poppy Appeal, a great result for all who participated and gave their time for this great cause.

The Sub-Branch also continued to attract many new members which is very pleasing.  We are maintaining our numbers and that is a positive sign for the future.

Throughout the last twelve months we have undertaken numerous activities that have been of benefit for the Sub-Branch.  And I would like to thank Paul McGuinness for his tireless work in making these events happen.

Of course, the year would not be complete without our Annual Tour of Duty which this Year was held in Esperance.

The trip was an overwhelming success with the group having a wonderful time over the week, culminating in our visit to the Esperance RSL. The camaraderie that was shown from both parties was one of the highlights of the trip.  The Esperance RSL was overwhelmed by the good will shown by all, so I thank to all the members who made this trip so memorable.

The other event that was of huge significance was our tour of the Stirling Naval Base.  We were fortunate to have been granted access to the Naval Base, as now it is off limits to civilians and Guided Tours. A great day was had by all.

Due to the lifting of Covid restrictions both our Anzac Day and Remembrance Day memorial services were a huge success.  On a personal note, I would like to thank all the members who put these events together.  A special mention to both Peter Bowring and Barry Lloyd who without their input, these events would not have been the success they were.

As I am thanking members for their ongoing efforts in making this Sub -Branch so successful it would be remiss of me to not thank Brian Jennings for his tireless work in putting together all the amazing stories of members and his input to the RSLWA’s The Listening Post and maintaining our Web Site.  Also, I would like to thank Jon McKenzie for his tireless work in keeping us all informed through the North Beach RSL Sub-Branch Facebook Page.

This year has also been a year of sadness as we have lost many of our older Veteran members.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends of those that have left us.
